Join me for Beyond The Borders:
A Celtic Music Tour of Scotland
Oct. 3 -13, 2026

Why “Musical?”  Because we'll not only:

  • explore the unrivaled, relaxed beauty of the Borders,
  • traveling from East to West through this lesser explored region of Scotland we’ll experience everything you’d expect from an adventure across this bountiful country, and into England,
  • follow in the footsteps of Scotland’s two great legendary warriors: William Wallace and Robert The Bruce,
  • then travel south to explore the sights and lands that these two men fought for.
  • then leaving Stirling we’ll first head for Rosslyn Chapel where we can hear the tales of the Knights Templar before settling down in Peebles for a three night stay,
  • from Peebles we’ll explore along the River Tweed and take in the Great Map of Scotland as well as learning about the historic industries of the borders: farming, mining and textiles.

We’ll also:

  • enjoy several private concerts with local Celtic musicians
  • and even one or two with me…
  • and other musicians in our group!

Also, for breathtaking views of Scotland, check out the video near the bottom of this page.

10 full days and nights...

...plus 2 days for travel to and from Scotland. All breakfasts are included, and three dinners, including a seafood extravaganza. We’ll be escorted by a local resident / expert guide in Edinburgh, plus another expert driver-guide as we tour Scotland.

We’ll stay in most hotels for 2, 3 or 4 nights. (Only one hotel for 1 night.) The hotels look terrific. You can see them on the itinerary download above, and on the Tour company website.

This tour is offered by Scottish Folk Tours. I chose them for a few reasons. First, I like their relationships with so many good local musicians, and I love the idea of all these small concerts. Also, they have a great reputation and many many glowing reviews. Also, some of my friends have used them and came away very happy. And they are reputed to have fantastic guides.

They'll do a great job of getting us ready to go. They have helpful trip preparation info with everything from weather to packing to tipping and more.
